Description:
A tall cylindrical pearlware mug with loop handle printed in blue underglaze in the Buddleia Nankin pattern with Trellis Diaper outer border and an inner border printed in the honeycomb motif. Machine turned base. The pattern resembles the Willow Nankin design but stands apart due to two significant differences; there are no birds and the willow tree has been replaced by the Buddleia tree. The outer Trellis Diaper border and the inner border with honeycomb motif are the same borders used for Buddleia Nankin #1. This pattern is commonly found on plates and platters. I have provided a panoramic view of the printed design. While it has a few small chips on the edges, this handsome mug makes a strong, bold impression. One of my favorites.
Condition: Two small chips and some minor wear to the rim and several small chips to the base.
