Description:
An earthenware jug with a wrap-around pattern depicting two women standing in a fenced garden while a male figure observes from behind the fence. On the left and right sides are oriental buildings surrounded by a variety of plants and trees. A wide border with geometric shapes and sprigs of flowers is printed on the outside. A different geometric shaped border with half circles top and bottom under which is a continuous vine shaped string is printed on the inside. The two ladies, one holding a parasol bear some resemblance to those found in another pattern named “Striped Parasol” also recorded in this collection. The jug has a simple loop handle.
Condition: Very Good. A professional restoration was done to chips on the spout and to the bottom of the handle. A small .125 inch spot of glaze and color can be found on the bottom left of the pattern.
