Description:
This advertising pattern is printed in blue underglaze on a late 19th century earthenware container made for Snellings of Norwich to package a beef product for retail sale. The company chose the Standard Willow pattern with which to decorate the container and its location also appears on the elongated oval cartouche. Rampant Horse Street was an important street with prominent residences in the 18th and 19th centuries along with many merchants. The buildings lining this street were badly damaged during World War II.
