Description:
Circular earthenware cheese Stand. Printed in blue underglaze. The pattern is from a source print titled “View in the Eastern Side of the Imperial Park at Gehol” by William Alexander, included in John Barrow’s Travels in China, London, 1804. Note the border includes dragons as well as flowers and scrolls.
This piece is documented in Chinoiserie Printed British Ceramics in the Chinese Style 1750-1900 by Halliday & Zeller, 2018.
