Description:
An earthenware dinner plate printed in blue with the Fisherman pattern. This pattern is attributed to Minton. Geoffrey Priestman points out that the central figure holding the fish is reminiscent of the Fisherman patterns by Caughley and Worcester. The pattern appears to be a close copy of an original Chinese porcelain design, documented in Chinoiserie: Printed British Ceramics in the Chinese Style, 1750-1900, by R. Halliday and L. Zeller, Gomer Press, 2018.
The border is made up of a geometric pattern with four small cartouches, each with a different floral pattern, three larger cartouches each containing a different Chinoiserie landscape, and one large cartouche with four birds perched on branches.
Condition: Very Good.
