Description:
This earthenware soup plate is another variation of the Trophies pattern named Trophies -Marble and it is printed in blue with ocher color painted in underglaze. It is the only one of the four Spode Trophies patterns that has a gadrooned edge. The Four Treasures are represented by the symbols of the four fine arts: music, chess, calligraphy and painting. The central medallion represents The Hundred Antiques motif. The border pattern in Trophies Marble is taken from Spode’s Marble (Mosaic) or Cracked Ice and Prunus patterns.
