Description:
This exquisite round pearlware saucer is printed in brown and painted in underglaze in the Chinoiserie High Bridge pattern. It is unmarked.  A marked Davenport example is recorded in the TCC Pattern Database. The two left-most figures come from the source print “View of the Suburbs of a Chinese City” by William Alexander, plate 38 from “An Authentic Account of an Embassy from the King of England to the Emperor of China”, London 1797. The boat in the center comes from “Chinese Barges of the Embassy Preparing to Pass under a Bridge” from the same book.
