Date: c. 1800-1805
Dimensions: H 7.75″

Maker’s Mark: Unmarked
Description:
A large globular earthenware teapot printed in blue underglaze in the Elephant pattern. This is an earlier version of the well-known Rogers Elephant pattern also included in this collection. The pattern is printed in the reverse of all the others with the same elements shown in “876” by New Hall, and Elephant by John Rogers & Son. It appears to be older than the John Rogers & Son and New Hall examples, but so far the source for all these patterns remains unknown.
Condition: Good. The spout was broken off from the body and it has been very professionally restored.
