Description:
A footed octagonal-shaped earthenware footed fruit bowl printed in black, hand-painted underglaze on a deep blue ground and other colors, and richly gilded and enameled over the glaze with the Pekin pattern. Grimwades named this shape the “Crown” Bowl and it is featured in their 1928 and 1930 catalog (see Muriel M. Miller, “Collection Royal Winton Chintz,” Frances Joseph Publications, London, 1996, pp 59 and 63.) The mark is Godden’s mark 1832, variation “Royal Winton.”
