Description:
An earthenware cheese cradle printed in blue underglaze in the Gothic Castle pattern. It is not marked but due to it’s shape and the characteristics of the patterns it can be attributed to Spode. c.1814-1833. Cheese cradles were designed with their distinctive curved shape in order to take a whole circular cheese on its side, so that wedge-shaped pieces could be cut from it.
Condition: Very good.
