Description:
An earthenware sauce boat printed in blue underglaze in the Parasol and Birds pattern. The original design by Cornelis Pronk was sent c. 1735 to China where it was copied in underglaze blue as well as at least two colored versions. It was also sent to Japan where the pattern was copied with polychrome decoration. The British copies of the original pattern have a building and willow tree added on the right side and occasionally bird(s) in flight in the upper left.
