Description:
An earthenware dessert dish printed in blue with gilt decoration added. This example does not include the inner border found on many Minton pieces. Priestman documents the factory name as Hermit, based on invoices retained in the Minton archives. This example is recorded as Minton based on the two distinct marks printed on the piece. Priestman, Table 10.1, p.333, records them as P21 (on the left) and P5 (right). Copies of the pattern were produced on pearlware by a number of different potteries. Unmarked examples are found as well as marked pieces by Don Pottery, Geddes, T & J Hollins, Stevenson, and Swansea, dating from c. 1805-1820.
Condition: Good condition with one 1″ hairline from the rim and a chip to the handle on the underside.
