Description:
A tall earthenware hexagonal vase with lid topped with a tear drop-shaped finial printed in blue with a grape-vine style chintz pattern. The vase was printed with a previously undocumented pattern. As often was the case for larger items, the factory chose not to invest in the creation of a specific engraving to decorate this piece. They opted instead, to use an engraving they already had and print from it multiple times to cover the impressive dimensions of this vase. The decoration is completed with a wide floral border that includes roses, auriculas and scrolls. Attribution to Pountney & Allies based on a marked wash set in the same pattern.
Condition:
Very good. Finial was broken off and was professionally restored.
