Description:
This rare earthenware vessel is printed in medium blue with the Broseley pattern. It has a modestly molded finial and a simple linear molded base. This vessel served to supply water to birds in a cage through the opening in the cylindrical extension from the bulbous portion of the piece. It is 5.25″ high, approximately 5″ wide including the delivery tube, the center vessel being approximately 3″ in diameter at its widest point. This item was featured in Extraordinary British Transferware, 1780-1840, by R & R Halliday, p. 315, Schiffer Publishing Ltd, 2012.
Condition: Very Good, one small professional restoration to the base
