Description:
An earthenware bough pot printed in blue underglaze with the Dagger Landscape First pattern. Gilt decoration has been added. This pattern is copied from an original Chinese porcelain export design. It was used by Spode but this example is not marked and, therefore, can not be attributed to Spode.  It does have a painted workman’s mark “X” and the lid has an hand-impressed mark “65”. It is featured in Chinoiserie: Printed British Ceramics in the Chinese Style, 1750-1900, by R. Halliday and L. Zeller, Gomer Press, 2018.
Condition: Very good. Slight wear to the gilt trim. No restorations.
