A small earthenware butter dish printed in blue underglaze with the Fisherman and Rod pattern. While the pattern bears some resemblance to the Two Temples II, Variation Broseley pattern, the focus here is on Chinese fisherman, thus the assigned name. The inner border on the dish is the “Butterfly” border. Based on a marked mug in the same pattern in this collection and a label found on the piece from the previous owner this example is attributed Herculaneum, see J99.
