Description:
A covered earthenware round dish, possibly intended to hold butter, printed in blue underglaze with the Chinese Family pattern. In this pattern, the family has gathered in an intimate garden and the members are entertained by the little dog found in the lower center of the pattern. Although unmarked, according to Geoffrey Priestman–Priestman2001, pp. 72-73–the pattern is attributed to Minton based on its use on characteristic Minton shapes with several known workman’s marks.
Condition:  Very good.
