Description:
A rare earthenware jug printed in blue underglaze with the Standard Willow pattern. Baluster shape on pedestal base. Standard geometric border on rim, bow tie border on inner rim and base. The initials “I C” and the date “1802” were hand painted in blue under the spout. Wheel and spoke blue printer’s mark on base. This item was featured in Extraordinary British Transferware, 1780-1840, by R & R Halliday, p. 237, Schiffer Publishing Ltd, and in Chinoiserie: Printed British Ceramics in the Chinese Style, 1750-1900, p. 176, by R. Halliday and L. Zeller, Gomer Press, 2018.
