Description:
A large earthenware comport printed in blue underglaze with the Curling Palm pattern. This pattern is found on dinner and dessert wares and has a butterfly border. A variation of Curling Palm #1 is Curling Palm #2 and is found on tea wares, see a teapot in this pattern in the collection. Both patterns are recorded in the TCC Pattern and Source Print Database. The pattern on this comport is identical to that found on a large well and tree platter also in this collection. Marked examples by Job Ridgway are known, however the pattern was made by other companies as well.
