Description:
An 8.25″ earthenware arcaded dessert dish with a molded, basket weave outer border. Printed in black underglaze with overglaze enameling and with the molded sections of the outer border highlighted with blues, turquoise and red. It is an undocumented pattern that was inspired by a drawing by Jean Pillement found on page 54 of The Ladies Amusement; or, Whole Art of Japanning Made Easy first edition published by Robert Sayer,
London, 1759. The central pattern is surrounded by a wide inner border of four large reserves containing floral and botanical patterns and by four small reserves each with a different bird image. The pattern is recorded in the TCC Pattern Database.
Condition: Very Good. No imperfections or restorations
