Description:
An early earthenware cow creamer with lid printed in blue. The shape is similar to examples found in the Keiller Collection of Cow Creamers at the Potteries Museum, Stoke-on-Trent.
Same shape as F10 in the Two Temples Variation Brosely pattern.  Has the number “6” printed in blue on its base.
An on-line sale in Nov 2007 of a similar example realized £1,245, see auction description below:
“An extremely rare blue-printed cow creamer, c.1820. It is is 5.25″ tall, 6.5″ long and 2.5″ wide. If you are ever lucky enough to find a blue and white cow creamer, it will almost certainly be a Willow pattern example. However, this example is printed with a scene of birds and flowers and as such must be considered to be very rare indeed.”
This item was featured in Extraordinary British Transferware, 1780-1840, by R & R Halliday, p. 129, Schiffer Publishing Ltd, 2012, and in Chinoiserie: Printed British Ceramics in the Chinese Style, 1750-1900, by R. Halliday and L. Zeller, Gomer Press, 2018
Condition: Restoration to the tail, and cover. Small chip to the base.
