Description:
A very rare pair of earthenware Whippet quill stands with the bases printed with the Standard Willow border pattern. The animals are hand painted in rust and the features are painted in black. The base is indented in the front. This item was featured in Extraordinary British Transferware, 1780-1840, by R & R Halliday, p. 288, Schiffer Publishing, 2012 and in Chinoiserie: Printed British Ceramics in the Chinese Style, 1750-1900, by R. Halliday and L. Zeller, Gomer Press, 2018.
