Description:
A fine example of the Hearty Goodfellow character jug decoratively hand painted overglaze with a blue ground jacket painted underglaze. The brim of the figure’s tricorn hat is printed with  the Broseley Butterfly Border pattern and the jug’s base is printed with the Standard Willow Border. While made like a jug with a handle, it is believed that the Hearty Goodfellow form was intended primarily for decoration.
Condition: Very good. It is possible that the stem of the pipe has been restored.
