Maker’s Mark: PrintedDescription:
A molded octagonal  earthenware jug printed in blue with the Boy in the Window pattern on one side, shown here, and a second Chinoiserie design printed on the opposite side. A deep blue ground was added underglaze and other colors were painted both under and overglaze in rust, green, yellow, and pink. Molded Mandarin face is positioned under the spout. The reserve under the spout incorporates the union symbols of rose, thistle and shamrock. A very similar jug was made by the contemporary Lockett and Hulme firm, also of Longton.  Two other firms that produced this pattern are known to have used the same style oval sunburst mark as well. The pattern is documented by Davis1991, pp. 51-53 where examples on porcelain are shown and described. These examples show the pattern with the tea table and figure in the doorway reversed — the table and seated figures are to the left of the doorway.
Condition:  Very Good: One small chip on the underside of the spout.
