Description:
An earthenware Dutch shape jug printed in blue underglaze blue with the Chalees Satoon #2 pattern. This pattern varies from “Chalees Satoon #1” in that it has an additional mosque-like building placed on each side of the central building and it includes other minor elements drawn from at least three other Daniell prints. The central building is taken from a source print: “The Chalees Satoon in the Fort of Allahabad on the River Jumna.” The print is an aquatint by Thomas & William Daniell from “Oriental Scenery”, part III, 6. It was a pavilion at the confluence of the Ganges and Jumna rivers at Allahabad. The pattern can be found on many different forms and with many variations supporting the possibility of multiple manufacturing sources.
Condition:  Good. A 1″ chip to the inside rim has been professionally restored.
