Description:
A molded earthenware jug printed in blue underglaze with a variation of the Chinaman with Rocket pattern. Rib-molded body and leaf molded handle. The pattern wraps around the entire body of the jug. The rim has brown overglaze enameling. An identical example, if not the same one, is shown in FOB #42, p. 11.
The pattern was made by several potters in addition to a marked example by  STEVENSON.  The pattern is most often found on hollowware. The border, known as the Bell border, is the most commonly found border with this pattern. This pattern originated in the late 18th century.
Condition: Good: Some small modest restorations to the rim and one to the body.
