Description:
A Dutch-shaped earthenware  jug printed in deep blue underglaze in two patterns. On one side is the “Chinese River Scene with Temple and Pyramids”.  On the opposite side and under the jug’s spout, a second pattern, the “Willow and Summer House” is found. Both patterns are recorded in the TCC Pattern Database. While the jug is unmarked, it has been attributed by some to the Cambrian Pottery based on another jug of the same pattern and shape, also in this collection, that carries a Cambrian “Venus” printer’s mark. The border pattern is composed of flowers, fruit and some drooping wisteria-type blossom reminiscent of the border of the Monopteros pattern.
Condition: Very Good. Small professional restoration to the jug’s spout and 3 small glaze chips to the same.
