Description:
An earthenware jug with molded loop handle printed in black underglaze and painted overglaze in multiple colors on a rust red ground. Three distinct patterns are found in the cartouches, each with a different scene: One comprised of a pheasant cock and hen, a second with two exotic birds next to a water scene. The third pattern, found in a cartouche under the spout consists of an idyllic village scene. A floral and botanical border is used on the inner and outer rims with the latter containing small cartouches of exotic birds.
Condition: Very good. No damage, just some minor wear to the overglaze enameling.
