Description:
An earthenware ewer printed in blue underglaze with the Eagle pattern on one side and the Turkey pattern on the other. This pattern is part of an ornithological series of bird images that was made by more than one factory. The Turkey and Other Birds pattern is seen on the opposite side of this jug. The eagle is similar to eagles found on American historical items. The wide border consists of decorative floral cartouches on a circular geometric background below which is found a second intricate floral and botanical border. The rim of the jug and the handle is enameled in brown. While there is a blue printed circular mark on the base it can not be attributed to a particular maker, therefore, the maker is unknown.
Condition: Very Good. On small chip to the base only visible if turned over and some wear to the enameling.
