Trees along with birds in flight appear in each of the three scenes . The the rim is enameled in brown. The external border contains floral and leaf motifs with picture medallions while the inner border consists of a honeycomb pattern with geometric symbols. The central figure, the horn blower, appears on three variations of this pattern. For an excellent review of these variations see “The Hornblower Patterns” by Trevor Kentish, in FOB Bulletin 115, pages 4 and 5. This same jug is recorded in the TCC Pattern Database.
