Description:
An attractive large earthenware molded jug printed underglaze in blue with the Parasol and Birds pattern. The same jug was documented in FOB1973, number 49, Autumn 1985, p. 5. The pattern on this jug is illustrated in FOB #127, p. 9 with a discussion of the historical background. The Original design had no birds in flight although this has one. A Rainforth & Co. marked plate is illustrated in Lawrence1974 on p. 51. It has two birds in flight.  Other examples of this pattern can also be found in this collection.
Condition: Good. One fine hairline to the collar and one small flake of glaze off one side (visible in the image).  Also previous professional restoration to the collar, beak and handle.
