Description:
This cylindrical pearlware mug is printed in blue underglaze with a pattern based on a Chinese original. The pattern is known as Bridgeless Chinoiserie. Alternate names are “Chinoiserie Bridgeless” and “Bridgeless Willow.” Both the outer and inner borders are the “Butterfly” border.  Davenport is the only maker known to have marked this pattern, but it was used, with some variation, by a number of potteries.  The pattern is recorded in the TCC Pattern Database.
Condition: Good. One hairline at the base of the handle. Some rubbing on the rim. One small chip on the underside of the base and a small older restoration at the bottom.
