Description:
An earthenware mug printed in blue underglaze with the Obelisk and Large Fruit pattern. An unusual transitional Chinoiserie pattern incorporating several themes and an unusual assembly of elements which include a plinth with a brick pillar on top, the latter suggesting an obelisk, a group of stylized Chinese figures, a shallow but large domed pavilion with a plant in a square shaped pot in the foreground, and to the far right a plant with disproportionately large leaves and fruit. The handle pattern consisting of a vine with fruit. The border design is of interlocking shells. This is a TCC assigned name
Condition: Very Good. One small chip on the underside, barely visible.
