An earthenware tankard printed in blue underglaze with the Striped Temple pattern. The pattern is printed twice on the piece This pattern was inspired by an original Chinese porcelain design which was also the source for the Chinese Flag Bearer pattern. It was initially used by Caughley which gave it the pattern name as a result of the striped roofs on the pavilion. The same border consisting of geometric shapes and symbols is used on the interior and exterior. The terminals on the handle are hand molded. It is an early, line-engraved pattern.
