Description:
A rare earthenware obelisk-shaped ornamental printed in blue in ovals with small sections of Minton’s Trench Mortar pattern printed in ovals with a butterfly or moth motif border printed on the molded base and the top of the plinth. This type of ornamental can frequently be found with overglaze painted designs, but late 18th century underglaze printed examples are rare. Based on a pattern match, it can be attributed to Minton and is c. 1795-1800.

Condition: The upper section of the obelisk itself has been broken and professionally restored.
