Description:
An earthenware dinner plate printed underglaze in blue with over the glaze enameling in several colors. The plate rim has also been enameled in brown. The design may have been developed from a source print, but it is unknown to me. In the center of this overall pattern is a large Chinese figure holding an extended pole with a bird perched at the end of it. The bird is enticed to perch on the pole by the fruit that hangs from it. A companion bird keeps watch on a branch above. Clews is known to have also produced this pattern on an ironstone body.
Condition: Good. Some wear on the enameled surface.
