An earthenware dinner plate printed in blue underglaze in the Forest Landscape II pattern. There are two versions of this pattern by Spode. The difference is that the earlier one (Forest Landscape I) is found only on dinnerware, and shows a more simple style of engraving with very little shading. Forest Landscape II, shown here has more shading. The impressed mark on this plate was used c. 1790-1802. The pattern was in production for quite a long run as it is also known with a Copeland and Garrett mark, dating 1833-47.
Condition: Good: Professional restoration to two chips on the plate’s rim. The reverse shows over plainting on the glaze.
