Description:
An earthenware plate printed in blue with the Ornate Summer House pattern. The pattern is a fanciful interpretation of a Chinese garden scene with three figures conversing in the foreground and an elaborately designed summer house perched high on a rock. One bird is seen in flight and a second on the ground, lower right. The elegantly designed wide border consists of linear shapes and scrolls. Found on dinner wares. No examples have been documented with a maker’s mark, however, one example is known with the blue printed “STAFFORDSHIRE”. This pattern can be found on two other items in this collection. See it on D125, a comport, and on J179 on a Commemorative Jug.
Condition: Very good.
