Description:
The pattern on this octagonal indented plate is one of the earliest dated patterns on blue-printed wares. Although this piece is unmarked, other pieces are known with an impressed LAKIN & POOLE in uppercase letters. The source of this pattern is an original Chinese export porcelain design. The pattern is similar to Reindeer and Seal (see P70 for an example) with the tall pagoda and overall placement of the pattern. However, the willow tree is taller in this pattern and other features replace the hunter and reindeer that appear in the other pattern.
Condition: Very good. One hairline in the glaze only on the back side.
