Description:
An earthenware dinner plate printed in blue with the Trophies Nankin pattern. This is one of four Trophies patterns by Spode that use Chinese trophy symbols. The others are Trophies Etruscan, Trophies Marble and Trophies Dagger, or Fitzhugh pattern. The Four Treasures are represented by the symbols of the four fine arts: music, chess, calligraphy and painting. The central medallion represents The Hundred Antiques. The border pattern is the same as used on the Standard Willow pattern. Provenance: The Pulver Collection.
