Description:
A large earthenware platter. In this pattern, a man in a boat is approaching the steps leading up to the veranda in front of a large 3-story pagoda. A long two arch bridge connects the side of the pagoda to the opposite bank of the river where 3 figures are standing. Two very tall palm trees behind the pagoda hold a place of prominence in the pattern. Marked examples of this pattern are known by Wood & Brettell, and by Thomas and John Carey, however this example has no maker’s mark.
