Description:
An earthenware platter printed in blue underglaze with Buffalo and Fisherman pattern. The design essentially consists of two vignettes integrated by means of a disproportionately large grouping of flowers and leaves. On one side, two figures are fishing. On the opposite side, a figure is seen seated on a water buffalo. Of particular note in the case of the platter is how the transfer printer skillfully used a pattern originally made for a smaller item, by repeating the full pattern and a portion of the floral group a third time.pattern. For more about this plattter, see, “The Right or Wrong Fit”, by Loren Zeller in TCC Bulletin 2020 Vol. XXI No. 2, p. 4.
