Description:
An outstanding earthenware well and tree meat dish printed in blue underglaze with the Chinese Market Stall pattern with overglaze enameling in two colors and yellow enameling on the edge. The added coloring is most unusual on a pattern of this type. Rectangular shape. This is a pseudo Chinese pattern showing figures at a market stall. The border is of strip form including rococo motifs. Examples are known both with and without the name ‘Wear Sc.’ at the end of a fence in the design. See P191, a soup plate in this pattern with the Wear mark added. This pattern is very similar in both style and layout to the Chinese Traders pattern by Stevenson which is also known with the Wear signature (also included in this collection ).
Condition: Very good.
