Description:
An earthenware punch bowl. The pattern, Tall Lantern Carrier, is named for the tall Chinese figure that stands on an elevated bridge holding a lantern. An alternative pattern name is “Gallion under a Bridge.” The footrim is decorated in an unusual geometric design. This bowl displays a second pattern, “Man in Sampan”, on the opposite side and yet a third pattern, “Temple with Bells”, in the center of the bowl. All three patterns are recorded separately in the TCC Pattern Database and are from this piece. Due to its shape and border patterns, the bowl is believed to be from the Cambrian Pottery.
