Description:
A round earthenware container with a divided inner liner and an opening to a lower compartment intended for holding water for the shaving brush. Presumably, the upper compartments were intended for soap. It is without a cover. It is printed in blue underglaze with the Parasol and Birds pattern. The border design consists of a cellular pattern with floral reserves. The original design by Cornelis Pronk was sent c. 1735 to China where it was copied in underglaze blue as well as colored versions.
Condition:
A minor glaze crack to one portion of the inner liner.
