Description:
An earthenware center supper dish printed in blue underglaze with the Forest Landscape II pattern. Attributed to Spode. Consists of an oval footed tureen and cover with an internal tray holding four frame egg cups and a small oval divided salt and pepper container, and an alternative oval bowl with lifting lugs for use instead of the egg cups and tray, printed throughout with the Chinoiserie scene and border. Unmarked, but with two egg cups that have a documented workman’s painted mark, mark WMP19, a “V”, referenced in Copeland’s book of marks, p. 90, for Forest Landscape II. Robert Copeland has personally confirmed that the set is Spode.
Condition: Very good condition with professional restoration to one egg cup and to the salt and pepper dish. Two very small chips on underside of cover..
