Description:
An early and rare silver shape pearlware tea canister and lid printed in blue in a line engraved pattern. Geometric border. This special item was featured in Chinoiserie: Printed British Ceramics in the Chinese Style , 1750-1900, by R. Halliday and L. Zeller, Gomer Press, 2018. A pull sheet from a copper engraving of this pattern can be found in the Wedgwood & Co Pattern and Shape Book in the Wedgwood Museum.
Condition: Good. Chip at the base. 2 tiny glaze nicks. One 1″ hairline to he sleeve of the lid and a firering crack to the inner lid and one to the side of the canister.
