An earthenware teapot stand with brown enameled rim. This pattern was known to have been used on earthenware tea services by Spode. In addition to the impressed SPODE mark the piece has a printer’s mark known to have been used on this pattern. It is documented as WMP5, in Copeland’s book of Spode marks, page 89. The pattern differs from the Trench Mortar pattern in that there are two tall bamboo-like trees whereas the Trench Mortar pattern has a willow tree in that spot. For another version of this pattern see J129.
Condition: Very good. Two very small chips in the enameled rim.
