Description:
An early molded pearlware teapot printed in blue underglazewith an unidentified Chinoiserie floral pattern. It has a high fluted octagonal body, octagonal spout, molded collar. It boasts a large lion finial and unusual handle with a pad at the lower junction, small oval domed strainer and enameling on the collar, handle, spout and lion’s mane. Maker is unknown. The shape is identical to the one shown in Berthoud and Maskell’s Directory of British Teapots, plate 922, p. 154.
Condition: Good: Some restoration to handle, spout and collar.
