Description:
A large earthenware coffee pot printed in blue underglaze with the Monopteros pattern. While not marked, it is very similar to the Rogers example recorded in the TCC Pattern Database as Monopteros – Rogers #1. Taken from a source print: the “Remains of an Ancient Building Near Firoz Shah’s Cotilla, Delhi” from Thomas & William Daniell’s “Oriental Scenery”, Part I, Archer, Mildred. Early Views of India — The Picturesque Journeys of Thomas and William Daniell 1786-1794. London: Thames and Hudson, 1980.
Condition: Good. Some chips to the rim of the lid and restoration to the spout.
Firing spots on bottom interior of the vessel. Hairlines to the rim of the vessel also.
